My options are running out. My lovely GP keeps offering me morphine and I keep turning her down, but it’s starting to get ridiculous. I don’t know how much longer I can realistically cope with pain like this, let alone the mind-numbing lack of mobility.
Obviously the upcoming injection is something to keep hopeful about – but the prospect of 2 more months in agony is less exciting.

hi Ellie
Sorry to hear how badly you are suffering. I’ve posted a reply to you on babyworld but was so moved by your blog that I wanted to post you a comment. I’ve had spd for 4 yrs but as I’m 38 I’m not planning any more pregnancies so am going down the operation route.
If you want to chat, you can email me on julesparks@sky.com or I’m on facebook at http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=600659132.
Take care hun

oh the pain is awful of this condition, my doctor justs gives me codeine and a list of exercises which i am too sore to do, the twins are now 15 months old and its getting worse, i am just about to try acupuncture and massage. What is this injection and how do i persuade dr to give it me?

Well I was on a hell of a lot of painkillers at the point when they tried this injection: I wrote about it here http://elizabethharrison.wordpress.com/2008/05/24/such-pain-doh/
It’s a steroid injection under x-ray conditions into the symphysis pubis gap – incredibly painful (I can’t stress this enough) and did not help me at all.
I’ve since had the plating operation on my pelvis and, whilst I’m not back to “normal” yet, I’m better than I was (off crutches mostly now).
Keep going back to your GP, get a second opinion about treatment and make them refer you to a consultant who specialises in orthopaedics. If you’re in agony, codeine (in my experience) is not going to do you much good.
Good luck
