I've since had the plating operation on my pelvis and, whilst I'm not back to "normal" yet, I'm better than I was (off crutches mostly now). Keep going back to your GP, get a second opinion about treatment and make them refer you to a consultant who specialises in orthopaedics. If you're in agony, codeine (in my experience) is not going to do you much good.
